Laurie Anne Land: January 2026
Happy New Year!
How are you feeling heading into this new year? I’m feeling really positive and hopeful. I feel like I grew a lot in 2025. I tried a lot of things that didn’t work, and I trusted my gut on the things that did. I’m genuinely excited to see what’s ahead in 2026.
Lately, I’ve been much more intentional about where I’m spending my energy, and it’s been feeling really good. I even decided to take a break from social media, and honestly, I’m loving it. I have so much more mental space to do the things I actually want to do. Now I just wish there were an easier way to stay connected with you without being on social media. If you have ideas, I’m all ears.
We also decided to spend the month of January at the river cabin in Oregon. As we drove through the mountains and got closer, it felt like one big exhale. Something about this place is so restorative for my soul. We spent our first morning here at the beach and it was cold, rainy, and absolutely perfect. And a little fun update: at the end of summer before we headed back to Phoenix, I planted a couple garlic cloves in our garden, and they’re actually growing. I’m already so excited to harvest them this summer!
I’m also proud to report that Taylor and I are still going strong with our daily workout habit. Eight weeks and counting. I haven’t noticed any physical changes yet, but mentally I feel so much better, and honestly, that’s what matters most to me right now. And I have to add that Oscar is doing amazing. He’s matured SO much, has been flying with us like a champ, and is clearly very happy to be back in Oregon too.
I hope you’re feeling good as we head into the new year. Keep scrolling for some favorite things!
What I'm Loving
This is possibly the most random thing to share, but these highlighters are SO good. They’re kind of like a crayon, but silky smooth. We used them in my old print shop, and I randomly found one the other day. Now I’ve been highlighting absolutely everything just to have an excuse to use them.
If you’re planning to read the Throne of Glass series, let me be very clear: you MUST read Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn as a tandem read. It’s the only way. If you don’t, you will be frustrated and probably a little bored. The book nerds of the internet came together and created a tandem reading guide that makes it super easy to follow. I used the highlighters mentioned above to keep track of my progress (very important 😂). I didn’t do the tandem read the first time through the series, but I just reread it (I’m on the last book now!), and it was a total GAME CHANGER. You’re welcome.
I got my mom this sleep stone for her birthday after it was recommended by one of my favorite book nerds, and she loved it so much that she got one for me for Christmas. Full circle moment 😅 It’s honestly fabulous. It smells amazing, but the scent fades in a really nice, subtle way since it’s all natural — and it keeps your skin moisturized forever. I’ve already bought another one as a gift and grabbed the sample stones to try different scents. Highly recommend.
Update: I’ve now made this soup for book club, for my family at Christmas and for some neighbors here in OR, and it got rave reviews each time. It’s officially a winner — and it made me feel like I can actually cook something really good for people 😅 Notes: We double the chicken (thighs!) and stir the garlic sage butter directly into the main pot instead of ladling it over individual bowls. So good. Enjoy!
Speaking of Reevie Pooh, she sent me this cute tote to share for all the cat lovers! Fun fact: her cats are named David Wallace (from The Office) 🤣 and Phoebe (from Friends).
Our next problem to solve at the cabin is lighting. It's very dark in here, especially in the winter! But I did just order this cute little lamp that will go on our countertop in the kitchen! Fingers crossed it works out!!
These socks have become my whole personality. They aren't cute by any means but they are cozy and warm and I tuck my pants into them and feel SO HAPPY.
I can’t go into 2026 without sharing my favorite thing from all of 2025. Taylor and I have used this journal every single day, and it’s honestly been life-changing. It’s become one of our favorite parts of the day. Highly recommend.

I don't know about you but I have always had a lot of fear around death. I recently found this account that documents near death experiences (NDE's) and they are fascinating and have honestly brought me so much peace around death. If you feel similarly, I hope this helps you too!
Behind the Scenes: some random thoughts from me
The last couple of months have been about getting back to what made me fall in love with all of this in the first place. I’ve pulled out my art supplies, stopped overthinking, and started playing again. I’ve also been more intentional about where my energy goes — keeping what feels aligned and letting the rest go. It’s felt really good, and honestly, long overdue.
Just sharing in case it gives you a little nudge to do the same as we head into a new year 🤍
