Laurie Anne Land: January 2026
Happy New Year!
How are you feeling heading into this new year? Iām feeling really positive and hopeful. I feel like I grew a lot in 2025. I tried a lot of things that didnāt work, and I trusted my gut on the things that did. Iām genuinely excited to see whatās ahead in 2026.
Lately, Iāve been much more intentional about where Iām spending my energy, and itās been feeling really good. I even decided to take a break from social media, and honestly, Iām loving it. I have so much more mental space to do the things I actually want to do. Now I just wish there were an easier way to stay connected with you without being on social media. If you have ideas, Iām all ears.
We also decided to spend the month of January at the river cabin in Oregon. As we drove through the mountains and got closer, it felt like one big exhale. Something about this place is so restorative for my soul. We spent our first morning here at the beach and it was cold, rainy, and absolutely perfect. And a little fun update: at the end of summer before we headed back to Phoenix, I planted a couple garlic cloves in our garden, and theyāre actually growing. Iām already so excited to harvest them this summer!
Iām also proud to report that Taylor and I are still going strong with our daily workout habit. Eight weeks and counting. I havenāt noticed any physical changes yet, but mentally I feel so much better, and honestly, thatās what matters most to me right now. And I have to add that Oscar is doing amazing. Heās matured SO much, has been flying with us like a champ, and is clearly very happy to be back in Oregon too.
I hope youāre feeling good as we head into the new year. Keep scrolling for some favorite things!
What I'm Loving
This is possibly the most random thing to share, but theseĀ highlighters are SO good. Theyāre kind of like a crayon, but silky smooth. We used them in my old print shop, and I randomly found one the other day. Now Iāve been highlighting absolutely everything just to have an excuse to use them.
If youāre planning to read the Throne of Glass series, let me be very clear: you MUST read Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn as a tandem read. Itās the only way. If you donāt, you will be frustrated and probably a little bored. The book nerds of the internet came together and created a tandem reading guide that makes it super easy to follow. I used the highlighters mentioned above to keep track of my progress (very important š). I didnāt do the tandem read the first time through the series, but I just reread it (Iām on the last book now!), and it was a total GAME CHANGER. Youāre welcome.
I got my mom this sleep stone for her birthday after it was recommended by one of my favorite book nerds, and she loved it so much that she got one for me for Christmas. Full circle moment š Itās honestly fabulous. It smells amazing, but the scent fades in a really nice, subtle way since itās all natural ā and it keeps your skin moisturized forever. Iāve already bought another one as a gift and grabbed the sample stones to try different scents. Highly recommend.
Update: Iāve now made this soup for book club, for my family at Christmas andĀ for some neighbors here in OR, and it got rave reviews each time. Itās officially a winner ā and it made me feel like I can actually cook something really good for people š Notes: We double the chicken (thighs!) and stir the garlic sage butter directly into the main pot instead of ladling it over individual bowls. So good. Enjoy!
Speaking of Reevie Pooh, she sent me this cute tote to share for all the cat lovers! Fun fact: her cats are named David Wallace (from The Office) 𤣠and Phoebe (from Friends).
Our next problem to solve at the cabin is lighting. It's very dark in here, especially in the winter! But I did just order this cute little lamp that will go on our countertop in the kitchen! Fingers crossed it works out!!Ā
These socks have become my whole personality. They aren't cute by any means but they are cozy and warm and I tuck my pants into them and feel SO HAPPY.
I canāt go into 2026 without sharing my favorite thing from all of 2025. Taylor and I have used this journal every single day, and itās honestly been life-changing. Itās become one of our favorite parts of the day. Highly recommend.

I don't know about you but I have always had a lot of fear around death. I recently found this account that documents near death experiences (NDE's) and they are fascinating and have honestly brought me so much peace around death. If you feel similarly, I hope this helps you too!
Behind the Scenes: some random thoughts from me
The last couple of months have been about getting back to what made me fall in love with all of this in the first place. Iāve pulled out my art supplies, stopped overthinking, and started playing again. Iāve also been more intentional about where my energy goes ā keeping what feels aligned and letting the rest go. Itās felt really good, and honestly, long overdue.
Just sharing in case it gives you a little nudge to do the same as we head into a new year š¤
